We’ve recently switched from glass to tin. Tin has some advantages: containers don’t break; it’s lighter; tin doesn’t allow any light to get to the oil. But the pour spouts on these new tins can be a little tricky! The video above should help. If you can’t view the video, here are the steps:

  1. Bend up the two sides of the outer ring of the cap - the white plastic circle on top of the tin. To avoid oil seeping out, don’t unscrew the cap yet! Wait until you have completed Step 2.

  2. Use these rings to gently but firmly pull the pour spout up and out of the tin. It should extend about half an inch or so.

  3. Unscrew the white plastic cap from the top of the spout.

  4. Enjoy your olive oil.

  5. Replace cap to minimize oxygen exposure to the oil. The pour spout can be pushed back in as desired for storage.

We hope that helps. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions!
